Q. Is there an exam retake policy for Microsoft Dynamics certification exams?
A.
Yes. If you do not pass an exam the first time you take it, you can retake it at any time. If you do not achieve a passing score on the second attempt, you must wait at least 14 days to retake the exam a third time. A 14-day waiting period is required for all subsequent exam retakes. After you pass an exam, you cannot take it again.
Q. How long will my certification be valid?
A.
All new-generation certifications, including Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), and Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD), retire when Microsoft discontinues mainstream support for the related technology. After a credential retires, it still appears on your transcript but is listed as “Retired.” In most cases, an upgrade path is available for individuals holding that credential to demonstrate their skills on the newest version of the technology, without completing all exams associated with the new credential. However, this policy does not apply to legacy credentials, including Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD). The legacy credentials do not retire; they continue to hold their value in the marketplace as long as there is a need for IT professionals with these skills.
